A Very Rare Cobalt Blue and Copper Red ‘Fish Pond’ Charger, Yuan Dynasty (1271 - 1368)


Sturdily potted with rounded sides rising from a short foot to an everted barbed rim, painted with vivid shades of cobalt-blue and copper red to the interior with two fishes swimming amongst waterweeds and other aquatic plants, all encircled by a composite flower blooms and band of sea wave at the rim, the exterior decorated with a lappet band. The underside left un-glazed revealing the greyish-cream base, with orange-brown and dark greyish firing spots.
