A Rare Copper Red Under Glazed Flora Decorated Plate, Ming Dynasty, Hong Wu Period (1368-1398)

A very rare example of early Ming Hongwu period, with shallow and conical form, rising to an everted ribbed rim, decorated in the interior at the centre with a peony flower issuing from leafy stalks and four peony flowers in between the leafy stalks at the exterior. Support on a short tapered foot with an unglazed foot ring. The bottom is white under glaze and with the four character seal mark. 4.5 cm High, 23 cm Diameter
