A Rare Copper-Red Decorated Dragon Moon Flask, Ming Dynasty, Xuande Period (1426-1435)

The oval shaped body of this moon flask is delightfully painted in copper red of vivid strawberry tones on bothsides with a powerful striking three-clawed dragon, amidst scrolling clouds and above crashing waves, its head with an upturned snout turned back towards its twisted scaly body emitting flames, the sharp claws splayed, the mane raised along the ridge of its back and tufts of hair flowing in the wind., resting on a broad shallow foot and set with a tall slightly waisted neck with flora deco and key fret pattern at its rim. A six character seal mark of Ming Xuande is inscribed at the shoulder.
