Modelled after a Middle Eastern metal prototype, elegantly potted with a flattened spherical body set, rising to a slightly waisted neck. This is a massive moon flask of the Yongle Period, decorated with moulded in relief white sinuous dragon on both sides against a hatched ground, all supported on a short tapered foot of oval form. The cobalt blue was an imported cobalt from the Middle-east as the heaping and piling can be readily seen. The unglazed base with a deep glazed recess in the centre inscribed with 4 characters seal mark.
30.0 cm. High.
